Enchanted Realms Rulebook
PHYLUM: HOMINOID
CLASS: GOBLINOID
Members of the goblinoid class all have heritage, linking them to the original goblin. They are of short stature, often with flat-shaped skulls and wide eyes. Most goblinoid species are gluttonous scavengers barely managing the resources they do have; however, there are a few exceptions.
Bugbear
Bugbears are the largest and strongest of the goblinoids, considered the most ferocious in their attacks. Although brutish and powerful, bugbears are eerily silent and graceful when they sneak up on their targets; however, stealth is typically a nocturnal exercise of bugbears due to their sensitivity to sunlight.
Shaggy, dark fur spreads all across their powerful, hulking frame save their bare and hairless faces. Their large ears hang loosely from their skull. Bugbears often stand over six feet in height, although the goblinoids prefer to hunt and stalk with a stoop, making them appear considerably shorter and more bestial. They weigh more than most humans, with some even reaching 400 pounds.

Alginoug | : | Adapting to cold environments, these goblinoids prowl the glaciers by night, hunting settlers. They have developed a natural resistance to cold. |
Ardak | : | Ardaks have dark gray fur and have a natural stealth ability beyond their cousins, which might even be perceived as an inborn camouflage. |
Murdog | : | In swampy environments and near great rivers, another breed of bugbear, called murdogs, exists. One of this type will have its fur caked in muddy earth and can squeeze through spaces normally fit only for a small-sized creature. Legend has it that a murdog fears all serpents and will not enter a house where a snake resides. |
Goblin
Goblins are a childlike species with a destructive and voracious nature. Weak and cowardly, goblins are frequently manipulated or enslaved by stronger beings who need destructive, disposable foot soldiers. The rare goblin who relies on its own wits to survive tend to be a vagrant, lives on the fringes of society, feeds on refuse and uses the weaker members of civilization.
Goblins can eat nearly anything but prefer a diet of meat. The flesh of humans and gnomes is consider a rare and difficult-to-obtain delicacy; however, children have fallen victim to a goblin ploy. While they fear the bigger races, goblins’ short memories and bottomless appetites mean they frequently go to war or execute raids against other races to slake their baleful urges.
Variants | ||

Hyborlin | : | Adapting to cold environments, these blue furred goblinoids have similar tactics to their normal kin, but can survive in the frigid places they call home. |
“Kæmplon” | : | A kæmplon is not a separate species but a normal goblin who has a rare congenital disease only known to goblinoids which enable them to grow to become medium sized. The goblin word roughly translates to “too big.” |
Kijimunaa | : | These small statured goblinoids have intense red manes of hair as their distinctive heritage. They enjoy fishing and pulling pranks on humanoids. They are not innately cruel like some of their other goblinoid cousins are, but their tricks can be upsetting. They have been known to aid settlements on the brink of starvation so that they can continue pulling pranks on them afterwards. |

Hobgoblin
Despite its common term of hobgoblin, this species calls itself ghabludar Goblinoid societal structures are cruel and harsh. As such, the ghabludar have built a militant ideology to survive its own culture, and as such, they often rise to leadership roles and oversee the lesser cousin species of goblinoids.
This orange-brown cousin to the goblin is larger, standing over 4-foot tall up to 5-foot for the largest among the ghabludar. Despite their taller stature, they are still wiry and spindly like their goblin relatives, weighing only around 90 to 100 pounds. However, hobgoblins are more industrious as a group. While they still scavenge, this species does manage resources the best of all its ilk, often building its own weapons and armor. The base Defense listed here is assumes the hobgoblin wears leather armor but carries no shield. In some tribes, hobgoblins have organized into obstreperous military organizations and will employ boar, gorgonops and dire wolves as a cavalry. Hobgoblins do not have a natural swarming skill as do their smaller cousins.
