Fungi reproduce by primarily through spores, fragmentation or budding, using a somewhat parasitic process to create new genetic spores. As such, new types of fungi, possibly a hybrid species, come about fairly frequently; however, many become extinct after only a single generation.

Banana Musk Creeper

The banana musk creeper is a mindless plant monster that uses tremorsense to locate targets. While remaining motionless, the creeper is indistinguishable from an ordinary banana flowering plant. It cannot be blinded, deafened, frightened or knocked prone. It also has regenerative powers, regaining +1 Body point at the start of each of its turns. Further it attacks by touch, delivering a psychic attack. If reducing a victim to 0 or lower in Mind score, then with its next actions, it will implant a musk bulb, that if not removed within 12 hours, the victim will transform into a “plant zombie” known as a musk thrall. Before the yellow fibrous mold envelops the victim, the bulb can be destroyed by free curse or mental healing incantation like Treat Serious Mind Damage or more powerful.

Once per day the creeper can release a strong fruity fragrance that targets all hominoids in a 30-foot radius. This is typically its first action. Each target must save against Will (TM:11) or be charmed by the plant for 60 seconds. The victim will ignore all its actions but will move as close to the creeper plant as possible. However, at the end of a victim’s turn, it freely attempts another Will save to rid itself of the charm effect.
