 Over-Category: Biophage
 Kingdom: Mutant
Beings that are biophages are those who eat and survive by the consumption of other living and materials or various nutrients that reside in the earth or native terrain.
Mutants are monsters in the strictest sense frightening creatures that are not ordinary, not truly natural, and almost never benign. Some are the results of magical experimentation gone awry, and others are the product-of terrible curses. Unless stated otherwise, mutant beasts eat, sleep, and breathe.

Basilisk

Basilisks are large, eight-legged reptiles with the terrifying ability to poison or petrify their prey. Though not malicious, basilisks are indisputably dangerous. Basilisks can be found nearly everywhere, including subterranean biomes. Typically, basilisks shelter within burrows, caves, or other similar areas. These dens are sometimes distinguished by what appeared to be statues, although these were, in fact, creatures that had been petrified by the creature. On a successful bite, the victim must make a Resilience preservation save (DC:12) or suffer the effects of poison, plus be slowed by 10 feet of movement. Each consecutive bite suffers further speed loss until upon reaching zero, the victim becomes petrified; this is true even if the penalties against movement come from armor or other effects. Reversing the effects of petrification is not easy. Magic or ceremony of powerful beings will be required.
