Beings that are biophages are those who eat and survive by the consumption of other living and materials or various nutrients that reside in the earth or native terrain.
Animals are nonhumanoid creatures that are a natural part of the fantasy ecology. Some of them have magical powers, but most are unintelligent and lack any society or language. Animals include all varieties of ordinary animals with several subtypes: amphibian, arthropod, avian, mammal, primeval, and reptile. Many animals have zero scores for mind or spirit. Unless otherwise noted, animals of zero quality will automatically fail any preservation save.
The notable group exception is primeval animals. Perhaps one of the most powerful defenses of the dire beasts is their resistance to Mind and Spirit attacks. Any preservation save of involving sleep, charm or fear will automatically save for all members of the primeval sub group.

Goblin Dog (Mammal)

Despite its name, the goblin dog is in fact a species of rodent. Hated by men and beasts alike, goblin dogs are ugly, stinking, craven, and foul-tempered. Constantly itching from a type of mange made worse by dander, even the healthiest goblin dog looks sickly and starved. Their dander is highly irritating to all creatures except goblinoids. Contact does not inflict damage, but infects others with an itching disease, which makes one break out instantly in a pink rash and lasts for 10d6 hours. If petting, touching or within 5 feet of one, the victim must make a Resilience save (DC 14) or become infected. If successfully saving, then repeated exposures to that goblin dog over the next hour will not produce the itching; however, other goblin dogs could spread infection. Additionally, this rash penalizes -2 to the initiative rolls of its victims, starting the combat round after contact is first made and this penalty continues so long as the itching infection exists. Finally, multiple exposures do not worsen the itching; however, the worse duration would apply.
