 Over-Category: Biophage
 Kingdom: Ooze
Beings that are biophages are those who eat and survive by the consumption of other living and materials or various nutrients that reside in the earth or native terrain.
Oozes are gelatinous creatures that rarely have a fixed shape. They are mostly subterranean, dwelling in caves and dungeons and feeding on refuse, carrion, or creatures unlucky enough to get in their way. Black puddings and gelatinous cubes are among the most recognizable oozes.
These creatures are effectively mindless, granting them immunity to all mind-affecting effects (charms, compulsions, phantasms, patterns, illusions, etc). Further, they are blind (but have 20-feet radius of blindsight) which gives them immunity to gaze attacks, visual effects, illusions, and other attack forms that rely on sight. They are also immune to poison, sleep effects, paralysis, polymorph, and stunning. Oozes eat and breathe, but do not sleep.

Brown Mold

Found in dark caverns and remote subterranean passages, the brown mold waits patiently for victims to pass by. Less than an inch thick but spreading over a five foot patch of stone or wood, the tan to dark-brown mold seeks warmth to help it grow. Small bumps along its surface store thousands of spores waiting to be released into the air. Any living creature that passes within 5 feet of the mold will be attacked by a burst cloud of thousands of spores which lingers for 6 rounds. Any creature that ends its turn in the 15-foot cloud (7 hexes) suffers 4d4 points of necrotic damage. Victims are permitted a Resilience save (DC:13) to suffer only half damage. However, this is a draining type effect, causing the target’s hit point maximum is reduced by an amount equal to the damage taken. This reduction lasts until the target finishes a long rest. The target dies if this effect reduces its Body maximum to 0. The spores grow within the new host and crawl back to the main body of the mold, reattaching and adding needed nutrients. Each new victim adds another five feet to the mold’s size. The brown mold craves warmth and heat; attacking it with fire heals damage and doubles its size. Cold spells will kill the brown mold for good.
